We provide quality preparations and IVF medication for specific patient needs

Compounding services

At Slade Pharmacy we take great pride in compounding quality medications for our patients and offering important therapeutic options for our prescribers.

We assist patients and hospitals teams with formulations of alternative doses, forms and strengths of medications in a range of ready-to-use sterile presentations to save staff preparation time, reduce wastage and the potential for medication errors.

Customers can place orders to be shipped almost anywhere in Australia through our online form.

Sterile products are compounded on a per prescription basis.

Choosing a compounding pharmacy

When choosing a compounding pharmacy, it is important to check that rigorous quality procedures are in place.

Slade’s raw materials are sourced only from qualified suppliers who meet our high standards of testing and quality control. We routinely test our sterile and non-sterile compounded medicines to ensure that our final products are of the highest quality and meet the needs of our patients and their doctors.

The Slade Pharmacy quality management system ensures that customised medications can be prepared safely, appropriately and under stringent quality-controlled requirements. Our staff are continuously trained and assessed to ensure that their knowledge and processes remain current.

For enquiries on prescribing a compounded medication or availability, please email our pharmacy team.

Prescribing compounded medication

Compounded medications are prescribed because there are no commercial ‘off-the-shelf’ products available to meet a patient’s individual requirements. Doctors, dentists and nurse practitioners should inform patients they have been prescribed compounded medication. A script is required for all compounded medication orders.

Cost of compounded medication

Some compounded medications are supplied as a sterile product. This requires a more complex compounding process that is undertaken in a dedicated sterile clean room environment, by validated pharmacists and technicians. This can make the cost of compounded medications more expensive than commonly available products or making capsules in a non-sterile environment. Please talk to your pharmacist if you have any concerns about the cost of medication.
