Residency programs provide a structured experiential learning pathway for health professionals in both general and specialised practice areas. The Slade Pharmacy Foundation Residency is part of a national program established by the Society of Hospital Pharmacists Australia (SHPA) that endeavours to support and lead early career pharmacists towards Advancing Practice.
This training pathway provides registered pharmacists with the opportunity to complete a structured experiential training pathway that will support them to build a portfolio of evidence that will allow them to seek credentialing that acknowledges their experience and impact on pharmacy practice.
All pharmacy technicians receive education in core medication management fundamentals, including, medication safety, high-risk medication, and best practice dispensing. Pharmacy technicians are supported to complete relevant certificate level training to assist them in building skills and expertise related to their roles. We offer a training pathway for technicians to provide clinical support functions in the hospital ward environment via an advanced training program.

Hospital pharmacists are experts in medications, who work as part of multidisciplinary healthcare teams to manage the use of medication in hospitals. We offer a Hospital Clinical Pharmacy Training Plan to support pharmacists new to the hospital environment. This introductory learning tool is designed to equip the learner with the core knowledge and skills required to work in a hospital pharmacy environment.
Slade Pharmacy offers a Cancer Pharmacy Clinical Training Program to support the development of pharmacy team members new to cancer care to achieve specialised knowledge and skills required to care for cancer patients.
This program offers a range of foundation oncology modules covering topics such as cancer pathogenesis and treatment modalities, common toxicities and management, and treatment prescription protocols.
Slade Pharmacy team members are supported by the Cancer Care Clinical Interest Group. The Clinical Interest Group aims to create a learning network by utilising the expertise of a leadership group experienced in cancer care and allowing social learning through discussions with peers.
