Your Medications In Hospital

Our pharmacists play an important role in the management of medications while you are in hospital – both on the ward and behind-the-scenes. They are the medication specialists who work in collaboration with other health professionals to ensure you receive the best possible care in hospital.

During your hospital stay, the full resources of our pharmacy are at your service. Many of our pharmacists have specialised training in intensive care, cardiology, neurology, oncology, psychiatry and wound management.

At the Bedside

Your pharmacy service starts on the ward where our pharmacists will review your medication chart to ensure your drug treatment is safe and effective.

During the review, we check that the medications prescribed are compatible with each other, that doses optimise your return to health and minimise any potential side effects. This review may also include a ‘medication interview’ to ensure we have your complete medication history and to answer any questions you may have about the medications you are taking.

Complementing our pharmacists is our dispensary team, dedicated to ensuring the timely, efficient supply of your medications. Utilising the latest in robotic dispensing technology, our dispensing team ensure you get the medication prescribed as soon as possible.

Our pharmacy teams are your medication specialists for your hospital stay. When you leave hospital we will ensure you have the medications and knowledge you need to continue your journey to good health.
